Nico Rosberg Shifts Gears: From Formula One Champion to Asset Management Evolution

Former Formula One champion Nico Rosberg is shifting gears from the racetrack to the world of asset management with the launch of Rosberg Ventures. The 38-year-old, best known for his victory over Lewis Hamilton in the 2016 world championship, has secured €30 million in funding to kickstart his new venture.

Rosberg Ventures, a “fund of funds,” will focus on investing in tech-focused venture capital firms on behalf of affluent family offices across Europe. With plans to amass €75 million by the end of the year, Rosberg intends to channel investments into renowned VC entities such as Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, and Accel.

Unlike many sports figures who simply lend their names to business ventures, Rosberg has been actively involved in the venture capital space for the past eight years. Leveraging his stature and network, he has cultivated relationships with top VC firms and influential families throughout Europe.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Rosberg expressed his dedication to his new venture, stating, “I’ve really found my new mission here with my business life after F1. It’s really full-on every day. I’m the CEO. I set the vision. I set the strategy, and I build the team. I’m at the absolute forefront of this mission every day.”

As an angel investor, Rosberg has already supported over 35 start-ups and growth-stage companies. He has a particular fondness for UK renewable energy start-up Fuse Energy and has co-founded Berlin’s GreenTech Festival, a platform for sustainable tech investment.

Reflecting on his transition from the adrenaline-fueled world of F1 to venture capital, Rosberg admitted to missing the instant gratification of victory on the racetrack. However, he finds the challenge and unpredictability of the business landscape exhilarating, marking a new chapter in his career trajectory.

Born in Germany and raised in Monaco, Rosberg, the son of F1 racing legend Keke Rosberg, now splits his time between Monaco and Ibiza as he navigates his latest venture in asset management. With his success on the racetrack behind him, Rosberg is now focused on making an impact in the world of finance and investment.
