Recent Closures and Openings in Downtown Roanoke: A Look at the Restaurant Scene

The restaurant scene in downtown Roanoke is experiencing some changes as Cabo Fish Taco announced the closure of its location due to various issues including staffing shortages, insufficient customers, and rising supply costs. This comes shortly after Leonore’s Restaurant also closed its doors in downtown Roanoke.

However, not all businesses are struggling in downtown Roanoke. According to Downtown Roanoke Incorporated, several new restaurants have opened up in the past few months, with three more expected to open this summer. The Laughing Bull, located within the City Market Building, has seen a significant increase in business, especially during lunchtime.

Elliot Broyles, the executive director of the Market Building Foundation, which houses several restaurants downtown, reported a significant increase in foot traffic compared to last year. As other restaurants thrive, Cabo Fish Taco is looking to lease a smaller space nearby to attract more customers.

Despite the closure of their downtown location, Cabo Fish Taco will continue to operate their food truck and still have a location in Blacksburg, Va. The restaurant hopes to bounce back with a new location and increase foot traffic to sustain their business.
