Florida based Ocaquatics Swim School recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and made a groundbreaking announcement – the company has transitioned to become a 100% employee-owned business. This move marks a significant shift in the company’s structure, emphasizing a commitment to long-term stability and community engagement.

Founded by Miren Oca, Ocaquatics has grown from its humble beginnings to become a pillar of the Miami community, offering over 6,500 swimming lessons per week across five indoor locations. The decision to sell the company to its employees was driven by Oca’s desire to preserve the company’s mission-driven ethos and share its success with those who have been integral to its journey.

With 50 co-owners, 78% of whom identify as women and 94% as minorities (Hispanic or Black), Ocaquatics is setting an example for other businesses to follow. In an interview with Oca, she shared insights on the evolution of the company and the reasons behind the transition to employee ownership.
